Cattle Theft in Bangladesh

Cattle theft is a regular occurrence in the region. Earlier in August, locals had lynched two individuals to death over the same.

Mokhlesur Rahman had told Deshkal News then that as per preliminary investigation, the criminal likely stole the cattle from Sariakandi in Bogura. The group was allegedly transporting the animals toward Sirajganj when the locals killed Sanu.

Rafiqul Islam, Sirajganj River Police Officer-in-Charge, had confirmed that the locals killed 2 individuals that night. He said that the locals suspected that a group was stealing cattle and moving them via boat. They ended up catching two individuals and beat them to death.

Cattle thieves from Bangladesh also often infiltrate into India and attempt to steal cows from Indian villagers. Only a couple of weeks ago in Tripura, villagers lynched 3 Bangladeshi cattle smugglers to death.
