It is pretty clear now that India-US relations will not improve as long as Peter Navarro is still a senior member of the Donald Trump administration.

White House Senior Counsel on Trade, Peter Navarro, has dropped new pearls of wisdom early morning on Sunday. He has accused Indians Brahmins of profiteering from Russian oil at the expense of the Indian people.

Peter Navarro told Fox News, “I would simply say to the Indian people, please, understand what’s going on here. You got Brahmins profiteering at the expense of the Indian people. We need that to stop.”

Navarro has been making a string of increasingly incredulous comments on India in recent days. This is the latest comment that has triggered a delude of outrage on both sides. Americans and other westerners are equally perplexed by the harebrained strategy of the Trump Administration.

What are Indians saying about the ‘Brahmin’ remarks?

One entrepreneur remarked sarcastically that Peter Navarro was on the verge of embracing ‘Jitni Abadi Utna Tel’ narrative.

Another user said that Peter Navarro is only days away from demanding a Caste Survey and making “suit-boot” jibes.

Sreemoy Talukdar, senior editor at FirstPost, says that Trump’s trade advisor has basically gone mad.

Udhhav Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, too, was incensed by Navarro’s rhetoric.

NDTV Managing Editor Padmaja Joshi described his comments as “racism with a generous topping of cluelessness”.

Navarro’s comments were uniformly trashed by Indians across the board.

Westerners react to latest dump from Peter Navarro

It wasn’t just Indians who felt outraged by Navarro’s remarks on caste. Many westerners and observers of international relations were perplexed too. Daniel Bordman, senior correspondent at The National Telegraph in Canada, commented that for relations to improve between USA and India, Navarro’s mouth must be shut.

Christopher Clary, a professor of Political Science who is usually extremely sympathetic to the Pakistani establishment, failed to find appropriate words to describe the rant.

There is universal outrage against Peter Navarro for his ridiculous comments. It is pretty clear as of this moment that rebuilding the relationship between USA and India is not possible while he is still a member of the Trump administration.
