How a Turkic Islamist gained access to Indian Maoists and circulated Naxal propaganda worldwide

How a Turkic Islamist Red Stream Media gained exclusive access to Indian Maoists and circulated Naxal propaganda worldwide

The Red Stream Media (RSM) published an exclusive interview with Indian Maoists in July 2024. In the interview, Maoist Central Committee member Amrut regurgitated Maoist propaganda. The Red Stream Media allowed Amrut to spread Maoist propaganda without any pushback.

The media outlet based out of Istanbul in Turkey is no longer active. It shut down in May this year. In its announcement, the RSM accused “an unholy alliance of German media outlets, journalists, union representatives, and NGOs” that led to its closure. In its statement, RSM also revealed that it is a project of Istanbul-based AFA Medya A.Ş.

Red Stream Media interviews Indian Maoist terrorists

Huseyin Dogru is the founder of Red Stream Media. He published a long interview with Amrut on the RSM website. The interview included videos of the Naxal terrorist reading statements from his smartphone. It’s not clear whether Huseyin Dogru was physically present at the site or the interview was conducted online. It is possible that the video was recorded in Naxal strongholds and transmitted abroad over the internet.

During the interview, Huseyin Dogru asked Amrut questions related to the history of Communist Movement in India. He also asked questions about current Indian politics and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Amrut complained about Operation Kagaar and the UAPA during the interview as well.

Amrut also ranted about ‘Hindutva Fascism’ and ‘Brahmanism’ during the interview. He said, “The current BJP government wants to convert India into a Hindu-Rashtra (Nation) in the name of “New India,” which is nothing but comprador bourgeoisie-feudal fascism.”

The Maoist Central Committee Member told the Turkic ‘journalist’ that “religious minorities, particularly Muslim communities, tribes, Dalit people, and women, are living as secondary citizens” while urging everyone to unite against “Hindu chauvinism”.

He added, “The consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024, is the perfect example” of how the Indian Government is distracting the masses “from the severe political, social, and economic crises facing our country.”

Red Stream Media campaigns against Operation Kagaar

On 8th May, 2025, the RSM published a thread on X spreading Maoist propaganda against Operation Kagaar. The X thread makes the claim that the operation is killing civilians. It said, “CPI (Maoist) recently accused the state again of routinely opening fire on remote villages based on suspicions of guerrilla sympathy.”

RSM spreads Maoist propaganda

Furthering Maoist propaganda, RSM said, “The Maoists have offered peace talks since 2024, but the BJP-led government under Narendra Modi has not responded. Protests against Operation Kagaar—often led by Adivasi groups—have erupted across the affected regions.”

There were no significant protests in any region across India, much less by Adivasi groups. The ‘ceasefire’ offer that the RSM speaks of is a ruse that Maoists use to escape the clutches of Indian Security Forces. Indian National Security Experts are aware of this for a long time.

What RSM says about why it was ‘forced’ to shut down

As per its own website, groups in Germany have claimed that RSM has instigated pro-Palestine protests in Germany. It has also been accused of ‘giving “terrorists” a platform’. RSM had published several interviews of “relevant / major political actors in the Middle East”. This prompted the accusations against RSM.

We found one instance where RSM had interviewed the Houthis earlier this year. It had also published an interview with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad on the October 7 terror attacks’ one year anniversary.

Huseyin Dogru says about the terror attack, “On October 7, PIJ’s armed wing captured over 30 Israeli soldiers and the armed group is second only in strength to Hamas in Gaza. However, for them, the “success” of the Al-Aqsa Flood goes far beyond military lines.”

What it means for India in the Info War Space

The Indian Government should be concerned about the fact that an Islamic Jihad sympathiser got the opportunity to interview an Indian Maoist. Indian Maoists have the means to collaborate with Islamists to further their agenda. The Indian Government should be concerned about it. The German authorities surely were.

There is good reason to assume that there were ‘middle-men’ who helped facilitate the interview. These ‘middle-men’ likely come from Maoist-front organisations. It also reveals that these ‘front organisations’ play a far more critical role in Maoist propaganda operations than previously suspected.
