Incumbent New York Mayor Eric Adams slammed Zohran Mamdani for the latter’s Hinduphobic past. Eric Adams and Mamdani are two major candidates in the Mayoral elections in New York later this year. Adams issued a statement on social media saying that Mamdani’s Hinduphobia cannot be ignored.

Zohran Mamdani is the favourite to win the New York Mayoral Elections in November. Polling shows that he has a significant lead over competitors Eric Adams and Andrew Cuomo.
What did Eric Adams say about Zohran Mamdani?
Eric Adams cited 4 instances to demonstrate Mamdani’s Hinduphobic past. First, he recalled how Mamdani had joined a protest where the crowd had chanted ““Who are the Hindus? Harami (Bastards).” Second, Adams said that Zohran Mamdani had called a Hindu-American colleague a “puppet of Hindu fascists.”

Third, Eric Adams mentioned that Mamdani had “smeared” Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “War Criminal”. Lastly, the New York Mayor slammed Mamdani for remaining silent when micreants defaced a Gandhi statue in front of a Hindu Temple in Queens.
Adams said that the “Hindu Community must be heard and seen.” He also said Hindu Community leaders have warned that Zohran Mamdani is “dangerous, divisive and anti-Hindu.” He vowed to never allow such hatred to divide New Yorkers.
Mamdani’s controversial past
While his socialist credentials has earned him significant popularity across New York City, the same has also made him the beacon of everything that is wrong with the Democratic Party. Zohran Mamdani has suffered a lot of criticism for his anti-Hindu and anti-Israel rhetoric.

Many influential Jewish voices have also accused him of peddling anti-semitism. His stance on defunding the Police and promise to arrest Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu should he ever visit New York has turned him into an extremely controversial politician. Mamdani has also refused to affirm that Israel has a right to exist as a Jewish State.
