Feminist influencer Divija Bhasin appears to have lost her mind after a concerned citizen filed a case against her over the ‘Proud Randi’ campaign. A 15 year old girl had added ‘Proud Randi’ to her Instagram bio. ‘Randi’ is a derogatory Hindi word for prostitutes.
Divija Bhasin had shared the screenshot on her own Instagram story. The screenshot had gone viral after that with people expressing concerns about the adverse influence of the campaign. The influencer then doubled down on her feminist rhetoric on X, confidently asserting again that she is a ‘Proud Randi’.

Investor Anubhav Gupta then quoted her tweet and announced that he had lodged an FIR with the Uttar Pradesh Police. He said that “influencing minors to to use inappropriate slurs and to provoke them to indulge in such profession” is an offence under Indian law.

The threat of legal action has not prevented the feminist from continuing with her agenda. She has chosen to defend herself on X with more bizarre claims.
Self-Proclaimed ‘Proud Randi’ claims 90% of Indians call women in their family ‘Randi’
Divija Bhasin has now claimed that the overwhelming majority of Indians will end up in jail if she is sent to prison for calling herself ‘Proud Randi’. She says it’s “interesting” that there’s more of a controversy about her calling herself the derogatory word than people calling her that in her comment section everyday.
The Feminist influencer said, “No one is shocked to see the screenshots in my videos of the PARENTS calling their daughters this. Somehow it’s only a huge problem when a woman wants tries to do something to stop the pain that comes from it.”
She then went on to ask, “It wasn’t a problem when it was normalized by the society? Where were all of you when I was getting randi comments on my posts? Why was there complete silence then?”
While it is disgraceful conduct to call any woman the R-word, it is unclear how self-identifying as one helps to dignify women. It only legitimises the R-word even more. Moreover, prostitutes lead rather terrible lives. This campaign attempts to appropriate their suffering for engagement farming.
Divija Bhasin claims it’s normal for Indian parents to call their daughters the R-word
One of the most bizarre claims the Feminist influencer has made is that it is normal for Indian parents to call their daughters the R-word. She says, “Why do you think so many men openly write randi in comment sections on the internet? Because they’ve learned it from their parents.”
She does not limit her extraordinary claims to the R-word campaign alone. In one post, she claimed that it’s misogyny that prevents mothers from changing clothes in front of their children. According to her, children sexualise their mothers’ bodies but not their fathers’. So, fathers feel comfortable in changing clothes in front of their children.
Divija Bhasin has also trivialised the matter of false rape cases. She said, ““Men go through false rape cases” ok then stop having sex with women. Don’t put yourself in dangerous situations. Stay home. Don’t let women into your house. Don’t give sexual vibes. Be a good boy and don’t ask for it.”
It’s clear that she is making such posts only for engagement farming. It’s high time she stop pretending that it is empowering women. Because it is not.
