42 Indian Haj Pilgrims die in accident in Saudi Arabia

The dead among the Indian Haj Pilgrims in Saudi Arabia include 20 women and 11 children. The bus was traveling from Mecca to Media.

More than 40 Indian Haj Pilgrims have died in a bus accident in Saudi Arabia. According to reports, the bus carrying them collided with a diesel tanker. 18 of them were from Hyderabad. The dead include 20 women are 11 children. The bus was traveling from Mecca to Medina when it collided with a diesel tanker.

S Jaishankar, the Minister for External Affairs, expressed shock at the accident in Medinah, Saudi Arabia. He also conveyed his sincerest condolences to the families of the dead. He assured that the Embassy in Riyadh and Consulate in Jeddah are providing full assistance to those affected.

The Indian Consulate in Jeddah has set up a 24×7 control room and issued the following helpline numbers: 8002440003 (Toll free), 0122614093, 0126614276 and 0556122301 (WhatsApp).

Telangana State Govt takes action after Indian Haj Pilgrims die in Saudi Arabia Accident

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has also expressed his shock over the accident. The CM Office said that the Chief Minister has directed officials to get in touch with the MEA and Saudi Embassy and provide any help necessary. Telangana Minister Mohammed Azharuddin said that the Minority Welfare Department will provide all possible support.

Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi expressed condolence over the accident as well. He said that he contacted two Hyderabad-based travel agencies and shared the passengers’ information with the Saudi Embassy.
