‘Calibrated and Non-Escalatory’: Indian Govt on Operation Sindoor missiles

The Indian Ministry of Defence further stated that a detailed briefing on Operation Sindoor will be conducted later on Wednesday.

India strikes Pakistan with missiles at Muzaffarabad, Kotli and Bawahalpur as part of Operation Sindoor

The Indian Government’s Ministry of Defence has said that the missile attacks in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir were ‘calibrated and non-escalatory’. “Focused strikes were carried out on nine terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, targeting the roots of cross-border terror planning,” the statement on Operation Sindoor said.

The Ministry of Defence further stated that a detailed briefing on Operation Sindoor will be conducted later on Wednesday. The Indian missile attacks hit terrorist infrastructure at Muzaffarabad, Kotli and Bahawalpur.

According to unconfirmed reports on social media, Masjid Tayyiba, believed to be the headquarters of Lashkar-e-Tayyiba, was hit by missiles.

News reports have stated that Govt sources have confirmed that LeT’s headquarters were hit.

Multiple explosions were heard in Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir well past midnight on Wednesday. The missiles were launched from the Indian side of the border. Terrorists associated with LeT and Jaish-e-Muhammad were targeted as part of the attack.

Despite India’s calibrated and non-escalatory approach, Operation Sindoor is likely to invite a Pakistani response. Indian missile strikes did not hit any Pakistani military installations, despite clear evidence of having the capability to do so.
