A Chinese video game called ‘Revenge on Gold Diggers’ is making lot of noises in the gaming space for its controversial plot. The game revolves around revenge against women who con lonely men for money.
After its release on June 19, 2025, Revenge on Gold Diggers stormed its way to success and topped the charts on the local gaming platform, Steam China. A Full Motion Video (FMV) interactive game made by Qianfang Studio, the game features taglines like “Who killed love? It’s the gold diggers who killed love”.
Hong Kong Film Maker Mark Wu directed the game. It was quickly renamed to Emotional Anti-Fraud Simulator after backlash over its original Gold Digger title. The game was projected as China’s first anti-scam gaming attempt. It provides training to Chinese men from detecting frauds and scams of women.
As per reports, players play the role of a male protagonist Wu Yulun who was once scammed by a group of professional scammers pretending to be a woman, a tactic known as pig butchering. In the game, Wu enters on a mission that seeks revenge from a crime syndicate of women who steal money from lonely men.
Gameplay of this viral game involves strategic emotional decision making and one of its kind with several ‘gold diggers’ deployed to con the player during the game. As per sources, each woman has her own style of deception.

Players are encouraged with lines like “emotional fraud hunters” while making their way through complex romantic relationships. Tasks involve avoiding deception and at the same time saving money and their hearts. The narrator of the game also provides 1,40,000 words of “Love Scam Knowledge Archive” as training material.
Soon after its release, a Hubei news outlet stated, “Genuine anti-fraud education should focus on identifying fake identities and scripted manipulation, not on labeling an entire gender as ‘perpetrators.’”
But the message was clear, the Revenge on Gold digger game focussed on women. “Both men and women alike have committed emotional scams. There are countless examples. But this game deliberately ties fraud to women.”
‘Revenge on Gold Diggers’ game is believed to be a tribute to the gaming influencer Pangmao also known as Fat Cat. Pangmao killed himself after allegedly being duped by his ex-girlfriend. Priced at $6 a piece, Revenge on Gold Diggers ranks among the top 10 best-selling games on the PC platform outperforming hits like Black Myth: Wukong and Baldur’s Gate 3.
