Bangladesh accuses BSF of stealing 2 cows

According to reports in Bangladeshi media, the BSF entered Bangladesh and beat up the bamboo traders while they were cutting bamboo.

Bangladesh accuses BSF of stealing 2 cows

Authorities in Bangladesh have accused the Indian Border Security Force of seizing two cows. They also accused the BSF of assaulting 2 Bangladeshi traders, Rashedul Islam and Joynal Hossain. The incident reportedly occurred at Patgram upazila in Lalmonirhat.

Lalmonirhat district is located in the Rangpur division of Northern Bangladesh and borders West Bengal in India. According to reports in Bangladeshi media, the BSF entered Bangladesh and beat up the bamboo traders while they were cutting bamboo.

Local resident Selim Reza said, “The incident happened due to grazing and feeding cows along the zero line. Tensions are now high at the border.” The Border Guard Bangladesh confirmed the allegations by the local residents.

The BGB said, ‘They took away two cows and beat up two Bangladeshis.’ They also said that they had called a flag meeting with the BSF over the incident but haven’t received a response yet.

BSF gets active at India-Bangladesh Border

The BSF in Tripura said that they had foiled smuggling attempts along the India-Bangladesh border. According to reports, the operations on Friday led to the seizure of cattle, ganja and various other contraband items. The total value of the items was about ₹2.3 lakh.

In another incident, the Border Security Force thwarted a smuggling attempt along the border at West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas District. They seized gold biscuits worth ₹1.29 crore. They also arrested a smuggler in connection with the incident.

The BSF has also strengthened security along the border in light of Durga Puja. The Tripura DGP said, “BSF authorities have assured us that they will further strengthen security and vigilance along the border so that no untoward incident occurs in the villages along the frontiers and to prevent cross-border movement of inimical elements. BSF troops will also increase their patrolling both during the day and at night.”
