Chandra Nagamallaiah, an Indian motel manager in Dallas, Texas, was brutally murdered by an illegal immigrant on Wednesday. The accused, Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, beheaded the Indian national in broad daylight after an argument.

Videos from the incident show Cobos-Martinez chasing Chandra Nagamallaiah with a machete. Disturbing videos have also emerged that show the decapitated head of the victim. The illegal immigrant from Cuba murdered Nagamallaiah in front of his wife and son.

Netizens express shock over the murder of Chandra Nagamallaiah

The murder has sparked huge outrage on social media. The brutality and depravity of it has shocked people across the board.

One X user questioned why more Indians were not talking about the murder. She compared it to the response of other communities who defend their own fiercely.

Journalist Rohit Sharma said that the barbarity was shocking, and so is the silence from the American mainstream media.

Another user remarked that the United States of America is not a safe country.

X user Monica Verma pointed out the increasingly deteriorating law and order situation in USA.

The murder of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska

Only recently, Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska was stabbed to death in a train. The murder is suspected to have been motivated by racial hatred. Her murder once again highlighted rising crime in American cities. Authorities have charged the accused with first degree murder.

The murder of Iryna Zarutska sparked a national conversation regarding crime in USA. Indians expressed dismay that the murder of Chandra Nagamallaiah has not sparked even a fraction of the outrage so far.

Fundraiser organised for the victim’s family

The victim’s friends have organised a fundraiser for his family. The fundraiser on ‘GoFundMe’ says, “Yesterday, our dear friend Chandra Mouli “Bob” Nagamallaiah tragically lost his life in a horrific act of violence at Downtown Suites in Dallas. Known as Bob to his friends and family, he was a loving husband, devoted father, and kind soul who touched the lives of everyone who knew him.”

According to the fundraiser, the victim’s son, Gaurav, just graduated high school and hopes to go to college this year. The fundraiser can be accessed here.
