Forpol talks with a NEHU student

Forpol got in touch with Sagar, the person who made the post on X mentioned above. According to Sagar, the argument began after a student from Kerala accidentally damaged a streetlight while playing football. The matter escalated from there.

According to him, students from Kerala, Bihar, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Haryana were beaten inside their hostel rooms. The incident occurred at Hostel 19 in the Main Campus of NEHU Shillong. They were mostly 1st Year students.

Sagar shared videos and photographs with Forpol. Two groups of students can be seen embroiled in vicious arguments. There are injured individuals in some photos with their identity hidden. In one video, there are drops of blood on the floor. In one video, students are heard discussing that the Warden also attacked.

Sagar said that the students are looking to escape the Campus and travel to Guwahati in Assam. Guwahati is about a 100 kms away from Shillong. A lot of them have already left the campus.

Forpol reached out to NEHU authorities, but they did not respond at the time this report was published.
