China Proposes Creative Naming for locations across Indian State of Arunachal Pradesh

This recent move of renaming places situated at the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh can be seen as an example of China trying hard to divert world’s attention from their ineffective weapon systems.

This recent move of renaming places situated at the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh can be seen as an example of China trying hard to divert world's attention from their ineffective weapon systems.

On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that China’s “creative naming” of locations would not change the fact that Arunachal Pradesh is a “inalienable part of India.” The Ministry-level reaction followed the announcement by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs that some locations in Arunachal Pradesh would henceforth have different names.

China’s conceited and absurd attempts to name locations in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh have continued, as we have observed. Such initiatives are categorically rejected in accordance with our principled stance. The MEA’s official spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, stated in a statement that “creative naming will not alter the undeniable reality that Arunachal Pradesh was, is, and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India.”

China has “standardized” the names of various locations in Arunachal Pradesh, which Beijing calls Zangnan, according to Lin Jian, the spokeswoman for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Regarding Beijing’s efforts to “standardize” the names in the border state, China and India have had tense discussions.

Similar efforts were conducted in April 2024, when Beijing stated that roughly thirty locations in Arunachal Pradesh will be renamed. China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs declared in April 2023 that it had “standardized” the names of 11 locations, including a number of high peaks in Arunachal Pradesh. India has strongly objected on each of these instances, asserting its control over Arunachal Pradesh, which is home to some of the eastern Himalayas’ highest peaks.

China’s recent attempts at stirring LAC issues can be seen as a tool to divert attention from the irrefutable fact that Chinese air defense systems were rendered ineffective and were transformed into basically sitting ducks during the recent India – Pakistan skirmish. In which, India effectively hit 11 of PAF airbases, allegedly downing some Chinese made planes as well.

CCP has always been expert at being expert diversion masters to gain a upper hand in the global narrative. This recent move of renaming places situated at the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh can be seen as an example of China trying hard to divert world’s attention from their ineffective weapon systems.
