The Nepal GenZ protests have taken the country by storm. The Government has collapsed and lost control of the streets. Prime Minister KP Oli has fled after submitting his resignation. His Ministers are being lynched on the streets. The protesters have stormed the headquarters of the Communist Party. The entire setup of the Communist Regime is facing annihilation.
The protests have remarkable similarities with the anti-Sheikh Hasina protests in Bangladesh in 2024. It’s the youth that is leading these protests. The primary issue is corruption. However, beyond these superficial similarities, the circumstances in Hasina’s Bangladesh in 2024 and Nepal in 2025 are completely different.

The immediate trigger for the protests in Nepal was the ban on social media. But resentment against the ruling Communist regime has been simmering for quite a long time. Pro-Monarchy elements in Nepal have been holding rallies in the country since the beginning of the decade. But it was only this year in April that the protests started gaining a lot of traction. There were clashes between the Police and pro-Monarchy protesters then as well.
So, the protests against the Nepalese Communist Regime is not a one-off incident. There have 3 different Prime Ministers in Nepal within 5 years. Discontent among citizens was brewing, reflected in the political instability in the country between 2020 and 2025. ‘Activists’ and ‘Civil Society’ will be loathe to admit it. But the political regime since the abolition of the Nepalese Monarchy in 2008 has failed hopelessly to fulfil the aspirations the Nepali people.
The Immediate Trigger for Nepal GenZ Protests
Unlike popular belief in Indian Social Media, the ban on Social Media did not trigger the protests. A movement was already building in social media against the rampant corruption of the Communist regime. The regime banned social media to quell these conversations. It was then that the movement erupted on the streets.
Even then, KP Oli could have salvaged the solution. But those whom the Gods wish to destroy, They first make them mad. The Police in Nepal opened fire at the protesters on the orders of the KP Oli Government. They shot to kill. These were unarmed protesters we are talking about. At least 21 are dead and hundreds injured.

Then they shot them at their head under orders from KP Oli.
Horrific Visuals. pic.twitter.com/DzWL51piNZ
There are horrific visuals of the violent conduct of the Police in Nepal, which I will not share here. It is not surprising that the protests then spiralled out of control. The CIA or George Soros did not whisper in Oli’s ears that he should order the Police to kill unarmed youngsters. The Police shot them in the head.
If a deeply unpopular corrupt Prime Minister believes he can get away with shooting unarmed youth in the head, then may the Gods have mercy on his sanity.
CIA has nothing to gain from enacting a regime change against KP Oli
Nepal is surrounded by India on one side and China on the other. What possibly does the USA have to gain by conducting a Colour Revolution here? Unlike Bangladesh, the USA cannot get a base for themselves in Nepal. India and China will simply not allow it to happen.
The only players in the Himalayan State are India and China. And both these countries have demonstrated a willingness for rapprochement. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited China after 7 years for the SCO Summit. Furthermore, KP Oli was already very friendly with the Chinese. Why would China seek to overthrow the Prime Minister who had the friendliest relations with them in the short history of the Nepalese Democracy?
It does not make any sense. Undoubtedly, the USA may seek to gain advantage from the protests. However, it is hard to see how they might. The Geographical realities of Nepal make this impossible. There are already indications that pro-Monarchy forces are involved in the protests. King Gyanendra Shah has issued a statement expressing solidarity with the protesters.
The Rashtriya Prajatantra Partyb (RPP) has also issued a statement against the Oli Government. The RPP is the major pro-Monarchy political party in Nepal. The protests were triggered by genuine resentment against the Communist Government. Don’t blame others for the seeds sown by Oli himself.
