Thaw in India-US relations: PM Modi and Trump announce continuing trade negotiations and dialogues soon

Recent posts on X by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump suggest a thawing of the India-US relationship after a brief fallout. The Trump tariffs, the conduct of American officials and the general response of Americans towards Indians raised concerns about the relationship between two countries.

This was amplified after photographs of Modi-Xi-Putin from the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit circulated widely in the media. Apart from vitriol, there were significant concerns among the American Intelligentsia about a dramatic shift in the global politics.

Modi said, “India and the US are close friends and natural partners. I am confident that our trade negotiations will pave the way for unlocking the limitless potential of the India-US partnership. Our teams are working to conclude these discussions at the earliest. I am also looking forward to speaking with President Trump. We will work together to secure a brighter, more prosperous future for both our people.”
