Asha Jadeja Motwani, a Venture Capitalist based in Silicon Valley, California, hosted JD Vance and his wife Usha Vance in Atherton recently. Based on her meeting with the Vances, Motwani believes JD Vance will be a “driving force behind solidifying US India relations”.
So I cohosted JD Vance and Usha in Atherton last Friday & here are my impressions. As just Americans, they are absolutely adorable, very very intellectual and very thoughtful.

Both of them are humble to a fault. JD took endless questions from about a dozen of us around the… pic.twitter.com/AyRtxV4mdn
Motwani described the Vances as being “humble to a fault”. She further said, “I had concerns about immigration policies, and wanted to be reassured that America will not lose highly gifted and talented immigrants from foreign countries – top brains of the world. He gets an A+.”
The Indian-born investor also gifted the Vances two idols of Shri Ganesha. She revealed that Usha Vance told her that her older son actually wanted one and she was glad to have received it. Motwani, all praise for the Vances, concluded, “Three of us hit it off beautifully for some reason.”
US-India relations have hit a snag in the wake of the India-Pakistan Conflict. President Donald Trump’s rush to claim credit for the ‘ceasefire’ between the two countries has not gone down well with the Indian Government. It has been repeatedly denied by the Indian side that any third country had anything to do with stoppage in the conflict. That has not discouraged Donald Trump from repeating his version of events multiple times on several occasions.
Given the depth and scope of US-India relations, it is reasonable to expect that US-India relations will recover in the future. The two countries are already in discussions over a major trade deal that is expected to take the economic relationship between the two countries to new heights.
