On September 4, 2025, protests erupted after the Oli government imposed a social media ban in Nepal. Gen Z Nepalese viewed the ban as an attack on their freedom of speech. Therefore, they took to the streets to protest against the ban and corruption. They burned and damaged several public properties during the riots.
