Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir has threatened nuclear holocaust during his visit to the US, according to a report by The Print. He threatened to destroy half the world with nuclear weapons during a black tie event in Tampa, Florida.
Asim Munir said, “We are a nuclear nation, if we think we are going down, we’ll take half the world down with us.” It is the first time that a nuclear threat has been issued against a third country from US soil. The remarks come at a time when India-US relations are at a historic low.
The Pakistan Army Chief did not direct his threat only against India. He directed the threat against ‘half the world’, without clarifying which countries comprise that half.
‘India will not bow down to nuclear blackmail’
PM Narendra Modi had declared that India will not bow down to nuclear blackmail after hostilities with Pakistan concluded in May. This explains why Pakistan is now threatening half the world with nuclear holocaust, not just India.
President Trump is eager to win the Nobel Peace Prize this year. It is unclear how permitting the Army Chief of a Jihadist State to threaten the world with nuclear holocaust serves that purpose. Trump has been extremely friendly with Asim Munir ever since Operation Sindoor. But this could be a step too far even for Trump.
Asim Munir makes bizarre analogies
Asim Munir used a strange analogy to describe the relations between India and Pakistan. He said, “India is shining Mercedes coming on a highway like Ferrari [sic], but we are a dump truck full of gravel. If the truck hits the car, who is going to be the loser?”
Pakistanis are likely to be unhappy with their Army Chief’s assessment of Pakistan’s prowess. Asim Munir did not stop there with the analogies. In a melodramatic attempt to inspire the Pakistani diaspora to support their motherland, he said, “Someone’s mother might be dark-skinned, and the earth of someone’s motherland might be dark, but a mother is a mother.”
Asim Munir made other threats against India
The Army Chief said that if India builds any Dams on the Indus River System, they will destroy it with missiles. He further said that the Indus River System is not Indian family property. He also said that Pakistan is not short of missiles.
Asim Munir justified Pakistan’s decision to nominate President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. The irony of it after a nuclear holocaust threat was lost on him. He was in Florida to attend the retirement function of the outgoing commander of US CENTCOM.
American authorities have not made any comment so far about the outrageous comments.
