India has hit multiple Pakistan air force bases in the intervening night between 9th and 10th of May. It was confirmed by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs in a press briefing on Saturday. Numerous videos have also surfaced on social media platform confirming the same.

With this, Pakistan has earned a dubious distinction for itself as the first nuclear-armed country to have suffered a multi-city missile barrage in a single night. The Pakistani cities which were hit by Indian missiles include its capital Islamabad.

It also means that India has become the only country to have bombed multiple cities of a nuclear armed country in a single night. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become the first World Leader to have executed such an attack. The closes example is Ukraine which has hit Russian cities but they have launched a full scale multi-city missile barrage against Russia.

In response to the post-midnight Indian missile attack, Pakistan launched Operation Buryan ul Marsoos (Impenetrable Wall) against India on Saturday morning. However, it failed to hit any significant targets and was successfully repelled by the Indian air defence systems. Pakistan did succeed in hitting civilian areas which caused multiple civilian casualties, which appeared to be their target from the very beginning.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also convened a meeting of the National Command Authority, its top nuclear weapon decision-making body. But experts speculate that it is mere saber-rattling to involve international institutions in a bilateral conflict.

The list of nuclear-armed countries include United States, Russia, China, India, Pakistan, France, UK and North Korea. Israel is also believed to have acquired nuclear weapons but it remains undeclared.
