Elon Musk has criticised the ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ passed by the Republican-majority House of Representatives. The spending bill has been heavily backed by President Donald Trump. Musk admitted that the Bill undermines the work the Department of Government Efficiency has been doing.

Elon Musk told CBS is an interview, “I was disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the deficit, not just decreases it, and undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing.” “I think a bill can be big, or it can be beautiful, but I don’t know if it can be both, in my personal opinion,” he added.

The Tesla CEO has been criticising specific policies of the Trump Administration in recent times. After Donald Trump announced his ‘global tariffs‘ for the first time, Musk called his top trade advisor Peter Navarro a “moron” and “dumber than a sack of bricks.”

Musk had said, “He (Trump) will listen to my advice. But then it’s up to him, of course, to make his decision. I’ve been on the record many times saying that I believe lower tariffs are generally a good idea.”

The X owner had also been embroiled in a giant face off with the online base of MAGA supporters over H1B Visas. He and other Tech CEOs had vociferously supported the program and nasty words were exchanged between the two groups.

Elon Musk reveals on X that he has given up on DOGE

Only a few days ago, Musk had revealed on X that he had practically given up on DOGE. An individual on X had posted, “I think Elon is realizing that, despite the promises made by the new administration and a Republican-controlled Congress—and all the campaign platforms they ran on—the current incentive structures and entrenched special interests in government make it nearly impossible to enact any meaningful, long-term changes to address the many big issues we face.”

Matt Van Swol, former Nuclear Scientists and a photographer, had responded to the tweet saying, “I think the appetite to cut spending in Congress was so much lower than even he ever anticipated. DOGE has done incredible work, but the GOP has failed to actually implement any of the cuts. I, for one, am incredibly disappointed.” Elon Musk responded to the change with a “Yeah (sigh)”.

Earlier, Musk had said, “I have come to the perhaps obvious conclusion that accelerating GDP growth is essential. DOGE has and will do great work to postpone the day of bankruptcy of America, but the profligacy of government means that only radical improvements in productivity can save our country.”
